This article describes how the republicans plan to undo Obama's immigration bill that he passed in November of 2014. The article talks about the republicans wanting to make a bill that will either not include the immigration funding or will provide funds only if the immigration gets override. The article suggests that some republicans are willing to let the DHS shut down if Obama doesn't agree to their terms, and others just want to fund DHS without including the immigration policy until further notice. The republicans have until February 27th to make a final decision on the course of action.
From unit one, checks and balances can be applied to this article as will as the rights on congress. Congress has the power to override a bill that the President has passed through the 2/3 majority. This means that the president can't pass bills whenever he feels like it. Even then, with the bill that congress wants to pass that contains the funding for homeland security, the president can veto it and not pass it until congress comes up with a new bill. This article makes feel disappointed. For one, the article made me realize that deferred action does not put immigrants on the path to become legal citizens. This article also disappoints in the sense that people cannot get along and try to hear each other out. For example, some congressman are willing to just let DHS shut down and then blame the president for it. At that point, it's everybody's fault, not just Obama's. That's just my opinion.
